The D50 quickly became my favourite (digital) synth. There are several valid reasons why ppl want older synths Whenever there is a certain sound you want for your song, sometimes nothing else will fit, so you have to go for that exact sound, and that is why alot of ppl still track down older synths.Īlso alot of the times ppl might have fav songs of old and want to use the sounds that were in the songs. Sometimes old synths have a certain "quality" due to their old technology that you can't find in these newer synths because they are too "Clean/Perfect". However, some ppl might like or want to use certain sounds that can only be found on certain synths. True that there are better ones out today and some may have some of the sounds from older synths. If you simply need a "synth" or a "rompler" there's lot better today than M1 and D50. you must know it well to need a D50 today. do you need cheap E-bass, Guitar, House Piano ? the M1 is ok.ĭo you need a synth ? get the D50. all I can say is that the D50 is a space pad machine. Reverb and chorus adds deepness and warmth to the sound. well forget them (but spectrum waves are great). It's osc's are dsp generated (it's like a VA) while the samples. So why all that interest in D50 ? because it's a powerful synth, warm, spaciuos, with a warm liquid resonance.
